Which transforms are found in the platform category

Other research has found a similar valuation gap between platforms and linear businesses. Platforms perform better over both the short and the long term along key financial dimensions. For example, they deliver faster growth, better return on capital, and larger profit margins.

As a result, since the early s, platforms have quickly overtaken other business models at the top of the economy. The next wave of large public companies is made up of far more platforms than in the past.

If you look internationally, the numbers are even more surprising. In Asia, 31 of 36 unicorns are platforms, or about 86 percent. This includes China, where 81 percent of 21 unicorns are platforms, and India, where 8 of 9 are platforms.

In other words, the average linear unicorn is valued at a little more than half of comparable platform companies. Not surprisingly, platform businesses also have most of the funding raised by these unicorn startups. To top it off, platforms also got more favorable terms from investors. The next wave of large public companies worldwide will be dominated by platforms. Platform unicorns were valued about 12 percent higher relative to the funding they received when compared to linear platforms, indicating that investors are more confident in the upside of their platform investments.

Obviously, not all of these unicorn companies will survive. But the trends in both public and private markets show that platform businesses are quickly overtaking linear companies.

In particular, the huge shift toward platforms among unicorn startups suggests that the next wave of large public companies worldwide will be mostly platforms. A platform ultimately enables this value creation by facilitating transactions.

Getting the core transaction right is the most important part of platform design. Transform definitions define the transformation actions available for a given field type. Administrators select a definition when they transform a field, and then provide the definition with the specific parameters that are applied to the transformation. For example, a definition can round up an integer or insert a value at a defined position in a string. The system provides a number of definitions that are designed to meet the needs of most organizations, but administrators can create new definitions as needed.

Transform definitions can be associated with existing Transform Categories or to new categories. You can use the Run Rule feature to test a data transform individually before testing it in the context of the application that you are developing. Additionally, you can convert the test run into a Pega unit test case. Visit the Collaboration Center to ask questions, engage in discussions, share ideas, and help others. For scene construction, it is usually sufficient to work with local coordinates for child objects but in gameplay it is often useful to find their exact position in world space or global coordinates. The scripting API for the Transform component has separate properties for local and global position, rotation and scale and also allows you to convert any point between local and global coordinates. Non-uniform scaling is when the Scale in a Transform has different values for x, y, and z; for example 2, 4, 2.

In contrast, uniform scaling has the same value for x, y, and z; for example 3, 3, 3. The scale of the Transform determines the difference between the size of a mesh in your modeling application and the size of that mesh in Unity. By default, the physics engine A system that simulates aspects of physical systems so that objects can accelerate correctly and be affected by collisions, gravity and other forces.

More info See in Glossary assumes that one unit in world space corresponds to one metre. Ideally, you should not adjust the Scale of your object in the Transform Component. The next best option is to adjust the scale at which your mesh is imported in the Import Settings for your individual mesh. Certain optimizations occur based on the import size, and instantiating an object that has an adjusted scale value can decrease performance.

For more information, see the section about optimizing scale on the Rigidbody component reference page.
